MITO

(Mitochondrial Stress Test)

This study evaluates energy output in HD patients during physical exercise. The study is a collaboration between Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas and CHDI, Inc. The Study length is 6-8 Weeks.

The study will recruit:

  • Adults 25-65 yrs of age

  • tfc scaleParticipants are very/fairly high functioning (UHDRS TFC score of 8 or greater)

  • Patients must be psychiatrically stable

  • Benzodiazepines/Antipsychotics/Beta Blockers must be excluded 2 weeks prior to and during study period

  • Creatine, CoQ10, and high dose Vitamin E must be excluded 4 weeks prior to and during the study period

  • Patients must be on stable doses of all other meds 4 weeks prior to entering study

  • A caregiver is preferred, but not required

  • Subjects will be seen at Wake Forest University for eligibility and then complete 1 day of exercise testing in Dallas, TX

  • Travel is paid for subject and caregiver
